Route 219- from Ellicottville, NY to West Seneca, NY in the winter is an accident waiting to happen for thousands of motorists every year. It’s rare not to see a car in the ditch. Every morning on our drives to work, we are forced to follow the tire tracks in front of us. This road is literally untouched. Many mornings you can make this entire trip and not see one plow until at least Milestrip Rd.

Even when inclement weather is forecasted, there are zero attempts to proactively get ahead of the coming weather nor do they even try to get plows on the road for the morning commute. It is treacherous and unsafe. 

What makes this more frustrating is that you often see multiple law enforcement officers on this same trip with vehicles pulled over. Generating income for NYS while not reinvesting our tax dollars for basic road maintenance is not okay. 

Let’s use our collective voices and say no more to NYSDOT’s continued neglect of plowing, salting and properly maintaining Route 219. We should not have to grip the wheel tightly while hoping we don’t slightly move off the tires tracks we are forced to follow. We deserve better and need to have our voices heard.
