Dan Ricci started this petition to New York State and

Recently Governor Cuomo made the choice to eliminate spring break for the students of New York State.  This is after the students had gone through a majority of the academic year spending hours upon hours doing work, while on the other hand teachers have been having to make radical alterations to their curriculum after being mandated to adjust their whole lesson plans to distance learning for an unknown amount of time, Parents having to make sure their children are completing their school work, and school administrations who are working 24/7 to make distance learning work.  Many parents, students, teachers, and administrations find themselves to be experiencing high levels of stress during this already chaotic time.  There are many people who are very scared for their wellbeing and the welfare of loved ones, and on top of the already present issues, many people find themselves to be having economic hardships during this hectic time.  Many saw spring break as almost a light at the end of the tunnel showing time for teachers, children, and parents to relax, and reduce stress in their lives.

Personally I have been spending most of my days doing copious amounts of work from the comfort of my own home.  I understand the situation right now, and why pretty much everything had to be closed indefinitely, but many families like my own have a big question mark, and that being how in this difficult time we are going to be able to survive financially, and prevent getting ill.  Many studies show that stress weakens your immune system, and a weak immune system is never desirable especially during a PANDEMIC!  For both the physical and mental health of our amazing state of New York, I think the choice is clear that we need spring break.
