Currently, the drinking age in New York State is 21 years old. This law is unjust due to the fact that tens of thousands of young men and women are asked to risk their lives at the age of 18 for our country but are not legally allowed to have an alcoholic beverage. This is unfair and needs to be changed.

Nationally, over 700 men and women have died in combat during the Iraq an Afghanistan war that were under the age of 21. If one is allowed to go and fight for their country at the age of 18, they should be able to go to a bar and have a beer legally.

The people of New York need to ban together in order change this law. If we can condone young men and women risking their lives, we should be able to have an alcohol beverage with them legally. With this petition you are helping change this unjust law.
