More than ever, we need to celebrate the lives of average citizens accomplishing great achievements. Currently, Westchester County (NY) lawmakers are considering re-naming Westchester County Airport (IATA Code: HPN) after deceased former Westchester County Executive Andrew O’Rourke. Resolved, the County of Westchester and the State of New York honor former Harrison, NY resident and female pilot, Amelia Earhart, by renaming Westchester County Airport, “Amelia Earhart National Airport.” Not only would this celebrate the life of a Westchester County resident who made an amazing contribution to American society, but it would also bring greater awareness to women’s outstanding contributions to American history.
