Exclude motorcycles from bill against loud exhaust. Loud pipes save lives!

On October 29, 2021, a bill was signed by Governor Kathy Hochul to increase penalties and fine motorists with loud exhaust systems. However, when it comes to motorcycles, the saying rings true that “LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES”.
Every year an average of 380,000 motorcycle riders worldwide are killed, and most of these fatalities occur because they are not seen by other drivers. In the year 2021, there were 241 motorcycle crashes in New York alone. In a 7 month period, between the months of January to July, there were 84 motorcycle crashes resulting in death statewide. Having a loud exhaust system greatly increases riders chances of survival. Therefore, there must be a modification made to have motorcycles excluded from this bill.
Bikers should not be fined for a safety feature! Bikers with loud exhaust will be fined $1,000 and the shops who installed them will be fined $10,000!!! This is wrong on so many levels!! Help put a stop to this.
This is people’s lives we’re talking about here!!
People are often distracted while driving. Having loud exhaust helps get bikers noticed on the road. It helps alert drivers who have music playing loudly, or have impaired hearing simply by feeling the vibrations of the exhaust.
I, myself, have lost family members and friends due to them not seen by drivers on the road. Maybe they’d still be here if they were heard.
Please help make a change. Help us make noise LOUDER than the pipes they’re complaining about. Let’s keep our riders SAFE!!!
