New York State has finally achieved Marriage Equality! This historic accomplishment was helped in no small part by 5 Queer Rising members who put their own liberty at stake & performed civil disobedience to demand marriage equality.

On April 4th, 2011, five Queer Rising members (Robert Moore, Kevin Donahue, Melissa Kleckner, Natasha Dillon and Ali Lozano) were arrested after protesting for marriage equality outside Governor Cuomo's Manhattan office, demanding that he take more active role in pressuring Senators to vote for Marriage Equality - and he did! 

Now, the Queer Rising 5 face criminal charges and/or community service!  This charge uncommon and extreme.  In cases like this, it is common for the District Attorney to simply dismiss the charges completely, or to offer Adjournments in Contemplation of Dismissals (ACDs).  This time, for unclear reasons, the DA is taking an extreme hardline against these 5 activists who made personal sacrifices to bring marriage equality to all New York citizens.
