I am one of millions of students returning back to school after a long depressing pandemic. During covid-19 I requested to return back to school and enroll in classes while on a payment plan. The bursars office denied that. They said I would have to pay everything before enrolling. I couldn’t afford it. September 2021 I spoke to an advisor that registered me and reassured me that I would be able to take online classes with no problem vaccination was not required. I had a difficult time enrolling in some classes due to changes that now were being made due to covid 19 and in person classes. I finally got my schedule done and started paying the fasfa debt with the bursars office after a lot of emails and phone calls. Now to find out that even if I am taking hybrid online classes I would still need to be vaccinated. I think this is not fair at all. When the city opened back up there was options to stay online or go in person. I think everyone should get an option weather or not to take classes online or in person. For hybrid classes there’s no point of being vaccinated if we would be taking classes from home. It is not fair for those who want an option or have religious or medical excepts or personal beliefs. So now myself and millions on unvaccinated students who are taking online classes or want an option can not graduate and move on with our lives. It is not fair that I have to be mandated even from my own home to continue my education. This is suppose to be America. Land of the free and honestly we feel imprisoned, back against the walls no one to help. We need to help each other because this is absurd. I want to be able to be successful and not be forced into something that goes against my personal beliefs or anyone else that feels this way. Education is free and now I have to basically pay for that with my body? It just does not make sense. Please help me get as many signatures by the 18th of January which is the last day to upload any vaccination or excepts to the CUNYfirst. I fought hard to even get enrolled back into the school, precise my schedule for this to ultimately ruin everything for me and other students. We deserve an option and that is remote learning with no vaccination requirements. Thank you so much. God bless all and be safe!
