The Coronavirus has been a growing epidemic the last few months. And constant meeting and teaching in crowded schools isn’t a way to stop it. Spreading a virus in schools is easier then spreading a virus anywhere else. If the DOE and mayor de Blasio actually cared about our health he would take precautions and close down schools. We have experienced from history that closing down places like schools reduce the chance of a virus from getting worse. So far there are 44 people in NYC who have the virus but everyday there are 10s of people who get it. And it’s only gonna get worse from here. Many elite private schools have closed down because they care for the children’s and faculty’s health. It would be better for all students to take online classes where less human interactions can occur. Teachers are already so underpaid so why even risk their lives? A large part of teachers are older then 50 and if they get the coronavirus they have a chance of passing away. Washington state has closed down all schools and we should too.
