Dear Polly Trottenberg and NYC DOT leaders,

Public space that is free of car is scarce in New York City.  While we applaud many of the DOT's efforts in making New York City safer and more livable, we were sad to see the Park Slope Play Street (4th St/5th Ave) suddenly disappear.  Very recently, the DOT removed the Play Street signage and revoked the designation.

We want our Play Street back here.  Requested by the community, Play Streets are blocks designated by New York City to keep our kids playing safely by eliminating car traffic during the times when kids are at play.  4th St. off 5th Ave. in Park Slope was designated as a Play Street, the only one in the area.  Located in a very busy and saturated area of Park Slope, the dead end street that previously served as the Play Street is the perfect spot for a Play Street.

We, the community want to take back our Play Street.  The city's designation had promised that on 4th Street, there shall be "No Thru Traffic. No Parking In This Block From 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday."  Please bring back the Park Slope Play Street and enforce the rules for the safety and benefit of all.
