Dear THHS Students and Parents,

This letter is an urgent call to help our beloved school. As many of you know, our precious Queens College Bridge Year program is being threatened with being cut by the DOE. Principal Condon is going to have a meeting with DOE budget leaders Wednesday afternoon to hear about its fate. We must do what we can to make a plea to oppose this unfair and harmful action to show our school’s resolve.

One reason many of us chose THHS was because of our unique Bridge Year program where seniors earn 12 college credits and take the Humanities Colloquium course, refined over the 38 years it has been given. It is not fair to take away this promised program that we have looked forward to. Additionally, funding for this program also covers:

  • Our wonderful annual Election Simulation
  • The Classic Newspaper and the Phoenix Magazine
  • Our college essay tutoring program
  • Our school play
  • The Steel Hawks Robotics Team

Cutting this program will impact the chances that the senior class will have to be admitted to their colleges of choice and will create a scramble to find replacement classes, if any, due to limited resources already in place. Please sign your name to our petition to help our school at this crucial time of need.
