Petitioning New York City Department of Education

Keep St. Fidelis School open as a public school! we need it!!!

As many of you know, St. Fidelis School is scheduled to close in June 2013. Rather than seeing this as a crisis, please work with me to create a positive opportunity for all of College Point. For years, College Point residents have recognized the need for an additional public school. Currently, we are forced to bus our middle school students to surrounding neighborhoods, and our public elementary schools have both added additions over the past few years.
As we all know a simple "drive around town," or a “walk around the park”, and we can all see and hear the addition of new housing units being built.
The increase in population has a created a need for a new public school.
By coming together as an engaged community and organizing around this issue, we are able to mobilize, and can make this opportunity a reality.
I am asking all residents of College Point and former students of St. Fidelis to please join me, and sign this petition with me for the purpose of allowing the St. Fidelis School building to remain open as a public school in the future.
The building itself currently serves students in grades K-8 and has educated thousands of College Point residents for years. Why not continue to allow the building to serve the community as a public school for ALL students? Please support me in allowing the students of College Point to have an additional public school to serve our needs.
Please sign the petition with me and show our strength in our numbers! Pass the petition along with all your friends’ family and neighbors!
Thank you,
Andrew Rocco
