Yahia Elhag started this petition to New York City Department of Education

Many public schools across NYC have reported to have no music classes or poor-quality music classes within their curriculum, and those numbers are continuing to raise. Despite this issue being apparent across the city, not many public schools take action to resolve it. There are governmental and non-profit organizations (Fender Music Foundation, Kinder Morgan Grant, National Endowment For The Arts, etc) willing to support and provide the funds for them, but not many NYC schools utilize these resources.

My goal is to inform the thousands of NYC public officials of the benefits that music plays for education and students across the city. As well as the resources and opportunities that'll help them establish or improve upon their existing music programs.

This petition will be sent to the NYC Department of Education so public schools teachers and principals will be distributed pamphlets, letters, or emails informing them of these important details on music education.

If you're an advocate for music education like me or a student who values music greatly, then I believe this petition is for you!
