The failure of the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages to post forms for the registration of births to same sex parents on their website is a clear example of institutional discrimination. This has resulted in inconveniences for many same sex parents across NSW. Some examples include:
1. The requirement for parents to travel to the BDM Office in Parramatta to pick up the forms in person, often travelling substantial distances from regional areas
2. Delayed processing times for the registration of births for same sex parents, resulting in subsequent delays to processing of associated documentation (e.g. passports) and the incursion of processing fees.
The cumulative effect of inconveniences such as these to the many same sex parents in NSW is substantial. STOP THIS DISCRIMINATION NOW!
It is a small action, but one that will result in same sex parents being on an equal footing as they embark on life with their new babies. Please sign this petition to help us gain equality on this issue.
