Students are being asked to pay $20 per parking pass this year at New Oxford High School. Many students were never refunded for the passes and lost money from the year before, and yet they are being asked to pay again. On top of this, they are being charged the same amount as a year where students would be fully in-school. For students who are only there half the time and have not been refunded from the prior year, this is extremely frustrating. On top of this, many senior students are being told that the senior parking passes have been “sold out” despite half of the people who own them come in on a different day, leaving many spaces open. Considering this is a strict entrance policy with COVID-19, it is in the best interest of the school to encourage students to go in their assigned entrances. Having them park far away from said places is only going to discourage this effort and increase chances of spreading COVID. Allowing students to park in their respective parking lots and allowing seniors the one privilege of being able to park wherever they so choose is one of the few efforts the school can make to provide normalcy. The students and seniors of New Oxford High School expect better and wish for compromise on behalf of administration to discuss these issues.
