Petitioning New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu

Publicly oppose Louisiana's system of secret foreclosure trials.

The American People rebuilt New Orleans. Now, countless homes and rebuilding funds are being taken in secret trials known as "executory process."

The homeowners, many of whom are elderly or still trying to get home, are being sued in secret proceedings. They lose, of course, and under the law they have no recourse. Their only notice is a sheriff banging on the door, ordering them to get out.

People have a right to know they've been sued. They have a right to defend themselves, EXCEPT under Louisiana law.

It's an outrage, and it must stop. Few people are better situated to put an end to these secret trials than the Mayor of New Orleans, Mitch Landrieu. His public opposition to these secret trials would go a long way to shutting them down.

Please, sign the petition.
