World War II Veteran and New Orleans resident Lawrence Brooks passed away at the age of 112 on Jan. 5, 2022. As a representative of those men and women whose military service helped end a global humanitarian crisis, Mr. Brooks set an example of honorable service to his nation, his family and his community. Since New Orleans postures itself to be an inclusive and multi-cultural city that encourages understanding and tolerance, we propose that the St. Charles traffic circle near the National World War II Museum, formerly known as Lee Circle, be officially designated as Lawrence Brooks Circle to ensure his legacy to Veterans and the city of New Orleans will be remembered.
