Stop Senate Bill 699, Sunday Hunting in NJ Parks

Please support One Gun Free Day. Senator Joseph Kyrillos wants to open all NJ parks to hunting 7 days a week- eliminating the one day, Sunday, when thousands of families, hikers, mountain bikers, dog walkers…can safely enjoy our parks.
We only have One Gun Free Day in our State and Local parks. Hunters have 6 days a week to hunt and no one is suggesting we modify that. I know hikers and families who have encountered hunters Monday-Saturday and can testify that an angry man with a gun is a fearful situation (as are stray bullets and arrows) I always advise: Hike on Sundays. Share the woods intelligently.
Three years ago Wildlife Management Areas were opened to Sunday hunting. You can hunt private property on Sundays. The hunting season could be extended to accommodate “more days for hunting” while leaving One Gun Free Day a week for the tens of thousands of residents who want to safely enjoy the outdoors in the fall and winter. At the urging of the monied hunters and the Gun Lobby, $enator Kyrillos wants to take away our one day of safety.
I hike every Sunday out of respect for the hunters. My hiking club does not interfere with their use of the parks Monday through Saturday. We have to share our parks. Please help stop Senate Bill 699.
