Dear New Jersey State Legislature and New York State Legislature. As all of you know traffic congestion and rear-end collisions in New Jersey continues to increase year after year. One inexpensive, simple, effective, and immediate way to reduce traffic congestion and rear-end collisions is to allow motorcyclists to travel between lanes of traffic reasonably. In the US, California is the only state where "lane-splitting" is a legal, encouraged, and has been found to enhance motorcycle safety, and significantly reduce traffic congestion. Unlike cars, motorcyclists have nothing to protect themselves other than the clothing on their back.
