Mandate Mental Health Education across New Jersey Schools

Throughout American history, mental health has remained a taboo subject. Today, one in five children and one in five adults actively suffer from mental illness. In the past, there have been spurts of innovation by revolutionaries such as Dorothea Dix and Clifford Beers, but their efforts have slowed in the face of modern education. Mental health education is still in dire need of a reform, as evidenced by the recent Palo Alto suicide clusters. In order to forcefully combat this issue, information needs to be disseminated in a wide fashion through mandated school educational programs.
