Antonio Alfano pursued his dream of playing football at the top level when he decided to attend Bergen Catholic. With this decision, it didn't come without sacrifices, he had to be away from his family, siblings and other Mentors in Rahway during the school year. During the week, he would stay at friends' homes while attending classes full time and participating in sports full time. As much as Bergen Catholic has provided Antonio his education, development of his future and building many friends and mentors which he and his family are very thankful for. After 2 years the lack of stability by being so far away from his family was taking a toll on Antonio's development. His dream of playing football whilst putting the same effort in the classroom has not changed, but as a young teenager, you sometimes don't realize how much your family is important to you and his heart has changed in that way. Antonio is now in the crossroads of politics and bureaucracy. The NJSIAA is not allowing Antonio to participate in the first 4 games at Rahway High School due to rules put in place in the past for other reasons than a child wanting to play closer to family. The NJSIAA should hear the reasons of Antonio and understand that this transition to play for his hometown has nothing to do with politics but a teenagers want to be closer to his family.
