WHO COMMITS A CRIME DIRECTLY AFFECTING CHILDREN? 

THEIR OWN PARENT!

Are you a custodial parent and haven't received child support from the non-custodial parent in weeks, months, or even YEARS?! Are you owed $100s, or $1000s of back child support payments? Has the system failed you by throwing the obligor in jail only for a "promise to pay" never to happen? Does someone claim they are "not working" or are "working off the books"? 

The legal system has a very lax policy in place to see that child support payments are being paid. Phone calls are made, letters are sent, and occasionally a bench warrant is sent out for the obligor to be apprehended. What good are any of these methods if the obligor is dodging the police, finding ways to bail themself out of jail, or making a promise to pay, not paying, and not reaping any consequences?

When will the obligor's financial neglect stop and their payments start?

We go to court and plead our case to the judge. We pour our hearts out, begging for support, yet the same lame judgments are imposed and we leave court feeling as defeated as when we entered. 

We call our child support probation enforcement officers and even though they are trying to pull out all stops on their end, they are only able to go so far in commanding payments be made. The rules are imposed by the court and must be followed in a particular order. Before warrants can be issued, notices must be sent. The long-drawn-out process produces no results and in actuality wastes taxpayers' money and the employee's time.

How do we get change?

WE DEMAND OUR LEGISLATURE TREAT NON-PAYMENT OF CHILD SUPPORT AS A FELONY! THIS IS A CRIME COMMITTED TO YOUR CHILD!

A FUNDAMENTAL PART OF CARING FOR A CHILD IS PROVIDING ALL THE BASIC NEEDS FOR THEM TO GROW AND THRIVE! BY BEING A PARENT AND NOT SUPPLYING FINANCIAL MEANS IS NEGLECTING AND STUNTING THE ABILITY OF THE CHILD TO GROW AND EXPAND. NEGLECT IS ABUSE! IF THE CUSTODIAL PARENT DIDN'T PICK UP THE SLACK OF THE NON-CUSTODIAL PARENT, THE CHILD COULD BE IN A DANGEROUS AND VILE SITUATION. 

WHY CAN THE OBLIGOR NEGLECT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT? WHY IS THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM ALLOWING THAT PERSON TO ABUSE THEIR CHILD? 

WE NEED A CHANGE!!! LEGISLATORS NEED TO REFORM NON-PAYMENT OF CHILD SUPPORT TO A FELONY CHARGE!
