Protect New Jersey Students: Demand State Mandated Testing of Public School Students

As students return to school in NJ, it is universally recognized and recommended (including by the CDC and NJ Governor Phil Murphy), that in light of the Delta variant, REGULAR COVID TESTING of students is one critical element of protecting the health of students, their families and educators and preventing another year of disruptions in the education of our children. This is particularly urgent in the absence of the mandatory vaccination of students aged 16 and older. Yet, inexplicably, testing of students remains ENTIRELY VOLUNTARY. There is no justification for risking the health and education of students and their families, and the dedicated educators who are among the front line workers risking their own health every day to educate our children. FOR THE SAKE OF OUR CHILDREN, THEIR FAMILIES AND EDUCATORS, TELL GOVERNOR MURPHY and ACTING COMMISSIONER OF EDUCATION, ANGELICA ALLEN-McMILLAN, THAT MANDATORY WEEKLY TESTING OF ALL NJ STUDENTS SHOULD BE INSTITUTED IMMEDIATELY.
