Educate the Youth About the Debt

To Our Local Representatives,
We the students at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey are calling upon you for help with an emerging issue among our generation. As the dynamic of our society continues to expand and change, it is becoming increasingly important that citizens are properly informed with the necessary tools to become actively involved with their community. Through our school’s efforts with the Up to Us campaign it has become apparent that one gap in particular exists amongst our peers - education on the national debt and government expenditures and what it means for our futures. We are asking you to dedicate a portion of your resources towards exploring the possibility of adding a mandate requiring social studies classes throughout New Jersey’s public schools to cover a section devoted to this topic. We feel as though this is the best way to educate the active citizens of tomorrow about what the national debt means for them, both short and long term. Education is the key to success and we need your help now to create a more successful tomorrow.
