Krista Miller started this petition to New Haven Board of Education and

New Haven students agree that education is a vital part of our lives, especially as students of color. Knowledge is power and we need as much power as we can get during these times.

Students have made an outcry for sympathy during the pandemic; dealing with "an overwhelming amount to work" A New Haven Coop Student put it, home life, work, elections, staying safe in the pandemic, and civil unrest. High school students have expressed a lack in mental health because of the large work load and long classes adding exponential damage.

With particular schools requiring full school days (no study halls), the work load has been unnecessarily large; students should have the choice to participate in electives (during this time at the very least).

Not to mention there has been studies that show that being behind a screen for too long can cause eyes to strain, dry eyes, headaches, and sometimes hearing loss (for those who use head/earphones).

If this a was actually an open dialogue this accommodation would have already been heard and met or negotiated. A lot of students are suffering. In addition we also have no trauma counseling or mental health accommodations.

Have sympathy for these students.
