My name is Sydney Bruleigh and there is injustice happening right as you’re reading this.

    My story; On May 5th of 2019, I was raped by a man who was 20 while I was 15. I was very heavily intoxicated while he was sober, and he took advantage of that. Recently, his maximum sentence went from 7 years to 3.5 years. For a man who stripped my innocence and virginity from me, 3.5 years is not nearly enough time. He never seems like the type to do such a thing, which is what the courts are relying on. There’s evidence of my jeans that he took off of me, and social media evidence. 

    I have PTSD flashbacks almost every night of this rape. I don’t think they’ll ever go away; but I’m hoping he will. I am now 18 years old, and he is now 23 as of October this year. 

   I thank you all for taking the time out of your day to stop and read my story and hopefully understand my thoughts through this all. My story was first put on TikTok just as a venting page, but I’ve had so many supportive people help me come to the decision to make this petition to help more justice be served. Thank you again.
