During the month of May, the New Hampshire Association of Chiefs of Police, in association with Ruger, Sig Sauer, and Rody's Gun Shop, will be distributing 31 guns to the winners of a raffle, organized as a fundraiser for the New Hampshire Police Cadet Training Academy. In light of the tragic massacre at Sandy Hook, the more than 3,000 people who have lost their lives to gun violence since December 2012, the murder one year ago of Greenland, New Hampshire's Chief of Police by a gun-wielding madman, and the death of an MIT police officer last week at the hands of suspected terrorists, this fundraiser is misguided at best. I am urging people to sign this petition in protest of the Association's decision to go ahead with this ill-advised event.
Please join me in sending a message to the New Hampshire Association of Chiefs of Police that we need fewer, not more, guns on our streets and in our homes.
