New Castle High School has a very unfair and sexist dress code policy. Girls are 5.5 times more likely to get suspended than boys when it comes to inappropriate clothing. Around the end of the 2021-2022 school year most girls got suspended and ISS for simply wearing shorts that were 3 inches above the knee, while the boys would wear shorter shorts than the girls. There were also multiple suspensions due to wearing leggings. While leggings are prohibited, girls should be allowed to wear whatever they want, without boys not being able to control themselves. It is not just students, it’s also teachers and staff. Sexist dress code is one of the main issues. There is also kids being bullied, and instead of attending to those situations they want to worry about dress code instead. Hopefully if this petition gets enough signatures we can end dress code for good.
