We cannot afford to turn down corporate investments within the city limits!!!
It is in the community's best interest for the councilmembers to vote to create the Neighborhood Improvement Overlay that would allow a state of the art Dollar General Store to be built at 1102 Highland Avenue.
The proposed project would involve a $1.25 million dollar investment that includes a 9,100 square foot upgraded building, landscaping, and a lighted parking lot. This building would replace a vacant building/lot that is no longer feasible to rent or restore.
Property taxes on the new structure are anticipated to be between $40,000 and $53,000 year. Currently only about $5,000 per year is paid on the empty building.
Members of the community should strongly support any endeavor that will create jobs and tax revenue for the City of New Castle.
