We call upon the Provincial Government to provide the funds necessary to immediately carry out the repair and the return to service of our bridge, for light vehicular traffic, as was the case when it was abruptly closed on November 23, 2020.
The Old Florenceville Bridge was originally opened in1886 and has been improved over the last 134 years, making it one of the oldest bridges over the Saint John River, if not in fact the oldest. It has been designated as one of Canada’s Historic Places.
TODAY IT IS IN DANGER OF BEING TORN DOWN.
By signing this Petition you can help to save our bridge which has been providing essential service to our area since it was first opened. It has truly served as the principal link uniting the northern half of Carleton County since it was constructed.
Let your Member of the Provincial Legislature, the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, as well as the Premier of New Brunswick know that you support the cause.
