The demolition of Irthlingborough Road Bridge has had many consequences. Those being a longer journey time to the Leyland Industrial estate and the new houses at Stanton Cross. Businesses have been hit particularly hard as the increased fuel cost involved in getting to Wellingborough town centre and the loss of passing trade. Potential customers are less likely to use companies on a dead-end compared with a though route. Emissions related to commercial vehicles traveling the extra mileage will affect the local environment.

Over 3000 homes will be built at Stanton Cross and many will be sold and inhabited before a sensible access road to Wellingborough town will be created, again causing more problems for the existing route. Without this bridge the people of Stanton Cross will feel isolated from the wider community.

A plan to rebuild the bridge is set for complement in the summer of 2020. This is not good enough! The problems have gone on long enough. We need the bridge to reopen before 2020.

This is the easiest bridge to open before the challenges of the embankment bridge are started. Help the residents by reopening this bridge now!
