HomeKit integration for Nest products

Nest has made some great devices to make our homes smarter and safer. The Nest Learning Thermostat was one of the first smart home IoT devices to hit the market, Nest Protect is a sensor packed nifty smoke alarm and Nest Secure is one of the finest smartphone connected security systems available.

For Apple users, one thing has been missing from the start: HomeKit integration. And while up until 2017 Apple required specific hardware in order to get verified, these requirements aren't in place anymore. Instead, since iOS11, devices can be made HomeKit compatible via software authentication.

Users have been asking for HomeKit integration for months, or even years. In the meantime, more and more manufacturers are making HomeKit integration happen, like Philips Hue, IKEA, Ecobee, Somfy, Logitech, Netatmo, Belkin, Xiaomi/Aqara, Honeywell and the list goes on and on.

So far, not a word from Nest Labs. Even in their own Support forums, Nest Labs simply does not respond anymore. By now, more users of HomeKit homes are getting rid of their Nest devices as more alternatives join the market.

What needs to happen?
HomeKit integration for all of Nest's products: the Learning Thermostats, Protect, the cameras and Nest Secure. Via Software Authentication in a software/firmware update.

To be able to control the heating with Siri and include it in scenes, arm/disarm the Security system with Siri, see sensor data in the Home app and set up automations based on the Protect's motion sensor, etc.

From a Google-company as innovative as Nest Labs, it can't be that difficult to accomplish this. Right?
