Proposed Flood Mitigation Along S. Riverside Dr.
This petition made change with 169 supporters!
Neptune Twp is looking to mitigate "flooding" along S. Riverside Dr. from Snake Hill to Shark River Beach & Yacht Club. However, there is no documented evidence that this minor flooding is cause for concern or impacting our infrastructure. As a matter of fact, the majority of water that lands on the roadway, flows in from the storm drains.
The proposal that Neptune Twp has in place will negatively impact our beautiful shoreline. Not only will this be aesthetically unappealing, but it will harm the ecosystem in the area (horseshoe crabs, mussels, fish, flora, eagles and many other creatures that live and rely on the river's shoreline). We will no longer have our neighborhood beaches, we will have to climb an armoured dune to launch our kayaks and walk over a concrete mattress. The idea of the econcrete mattress is unique, however, it is NOT necessary for our small river.
Follow your Ordinance 23-2.1 which states"cutting or removal of grasses and any other vegetation is strictly prohibited.
Neptune Twp Committee, please put a stop to this project and focus on other areas that really need help.
Please sign this petition to help put a stop to this devastating structure.
