I am creating this petition to ensure the safety of our children as well as to provide peace of mind for parents and accountability for all medical personel. It has recently been brought to my attention through my own experiences as well as through conversations with other moms that some of the nurses at this hospital are negligent and even abusive. I personally have sat in the nicu in my daughter's room and the baby across the hall was crying for 30 minutes while a nurse was sitting in the hall on her phone. So I called and asked to talk to the charge nurse. While on the phone with the charge nurse, that same nurse got up and went to tend to the baby. I assume she could hear my call. Upon speaking with another custodial guardian, I was told a story that I simply couldn't believe. Her nephew has a very rare condition that causes seizures that do not look like normal seizures. His condition also causes him to vomit frequently and he does not have the ability to move around on his own.  It's specifically stated in his charts that he is not to be laid flat on his back due to a risk of aspiration.  Her nephew was set to be discharged the next day but when she left the room to take a walk and return not even 20 minutes later, he was being put on life support due to aspiration. Also recently a nurse was fired for abuse. There was a video taken of the event that took place. After voicing concerns about the nurses comments and behavior to the charge nurse, she decided to aquire video of the action that took place. That nurse was later fired for abuse. One of the moms I spoke with told me that back in 2018 there were cameras in every single one of these rooms. I have to question why they were taken away. Its difficult to understand why things like this are happening at a hospital for children. Im truly disturbed by how often it takes place. My hope is that you will sign this petition to put the cameras back into the rooms with live feed available via a parent access code. Thank you in advance for your support.
