I am a kid attending a Connecticut public school like everybody else. And as someone who continues to watch the number of cases rise while our district doesn't do enough to protect us, I'm scared. As some of you know, Danbury Public schools were shut down this week due to a shortage of available teachers. Over $17k dollars were lost in less than two days trying to recover. But this is not just about Danbury- this is a common problem now beginning to surface amongst all Connecticut schools. As much of a challenge distance learning is, it keeps us safe from the rapid increase in cases of the new variant not only in Connecticut, but across America. 

I am someone who goes back home to siblings with asthma and working parents. I have witnessed many of my peers and teachers contract COVID, who are in lots of pain. Many could not celebrate their holidays because of COVID. In this time-being, the best way to currently stop the outbreak of Omicron is to stay home. Our schools are not well funded nor equipped with enough resources to deal with an outbreak, let alone casualties. Students should have a say in something that involves OUR lives. This is OUR future, OUR education, OUR health. 

This may be hard, but it's the right thing to do right now. It's the best way to keep our friends, family, teachers, and fellow students safe. Please sign this petition and get us online!
