millini jones started this petition to Nebraska board of cosmetology and

I'm starting this petition because being a Cosmetology student I feel it's unfair we only learn about European hair and not Ethnic hair. Currently, 3 schools in surrounding areas offer hair care classes, but students say ethnic hair is not in the curriculum. African-American hair consists of coils and curls. It's certain techniques in ethnic hair that need to be used to not damage the hair oppose to European hair. “It kind of makes European hair the standard for beauty and cosmetology, which is a false standard.” I believe the program is showing natural black hair is not worth embracing.  “You don’t need to be charging kids $60 extra for an ethnic doll they won’t use in class.” I have the Michelle mannequin which we've never touched so why was I changed? I feel as a standard Ethnic hair needs to be added to curriculum and be a standard. I also feel as a standard that in every school atleast one African American instructor should be present. If you agree with me please sign my petition for a change.
