George Lange started this petition to NCAA

On Thursday May 6 the University of Hartford Board of Regents voted to transition it's athletics program from Division 1 to D-3.  They have made this decision supposedly based on financial savings from a report that apparently had some serious flaws in it's assumptions.  Hartford has just finished a basketball season where the men's team made the NCAA tournament for the first time in history, and the women have a history of making the tournament in prior years.  The University has produced such professional talent as Vin Baker, Jeff Bagwell, and Sean Newcomb to name just a few.  There have been numerous comments from alumni and protests from students against this transition but our voices have fallen on deaf ears.  This transition will cost more than it saves based on comments on news articles because alumni and boosters will cease to donate to the University since the athletic program will cease to have any impact.  Please join this petition to the NCAA to pressure them to deny the University of Hartford's notice of intent to transition to Division 3 and help maintain this university's proud athletic programs and traditions.
