Give Flight 2 of NCAA West Women's Hammer a fair chance!
Give Flight 2 of NCAA West Women's Hammer a fair chance!

On May 27, 2021, Texas A&M hosted the NCAA West Division Preliminary competition. During the Women's Hammer Throw officials discovered a technical malfunction in the measuring devices. Flight 1 had thrown, and Flight 2 was warming up when the event was stopped. Officials refused to let Flight 2 wait in the tent, forcing to stay in the extreme TX heat for at least 30-40 minutes. My daughter suffered heat exhaustion, and all of these girls were exposed to the weather.
The official allowed Flight 1 a second opportunity to throw the next morning but denied Flight 2. These young ladies deserve a fair chance to compete and qualify! the NCAA-approved officials are responsible for testing all devices prior to scheduled events. The handling of this event robbed Flight 2 of a level competition and opportunity to qualify for the National Competition in Oregon!
Either give them the chance to qualify with a new set of throws, OR take any PB at or above the lowest qualifying mark 61.52 - but GIVE THEM THEIR FAIR CHANCE! Coaches have protested the results, and now as a parent, I ask the NCAA to do what is right!
