Walk-Ons do not have an equal playing field to start with. But, not allowing them to nourish their bodies when the coaches are asking them to give everything they have on the field of battle and perform at the highest level, all the while feeding the scholarship athletes is unjust, dishonorable and blatant segregation. This practice is not caring for the Well-Being of all Student-Athletes nor does it bring teammates together.
Once Walk-Ons officially make the team and come under the jurisdiction of the athletic department, they should have their athletic insurance covered by the institution using those walk-ons to better their programs.
Walk-Ons receive no tuition, books, room or board and the NCAA does not seek to know their academic progress, yet the NCAA does not allow walk-ons to transfer without having to sit out a year suffering the same penalty that full scholarship athletes do. It makes no sense.
