The Targeting calls are already getting out of hand. Numerous player have been ejected for plays which are not deserving of an ejection. The penalty should be changed to a call similar to flagrant fouls in basketball. Targeting 1 and Targeting 2 should be the call. Targeting one should be for incidental contact when leading with the head or lack of malicious intent when hitting the head. This would be a 15 yard penalty. Targeting 2 would be called when a player has malicious intent such as launching with the crown of the helmet to hit another player’s head.
