The media is beginning to wage a campaign to deprive the American Public of our long established tradition of Presidential Debates. On August 3rd the New York Times Published an article titled "Lets Scrap the Presidential Debates", The Washington Post says on June 25 "Its Time to Rethink the Presidential Debates" and the New Republic states "Lets Cancel the Presidential Debates Forever". This undemocratic and unAmerican idea would deprive MANY Americans from gaining a meaningful understanding of their choices in the 2020 Presidential Race and keep American's of all Political viewpoints from engaging in meaningful discussion regarding the issues facing our Nation. Regardless of your Political viewpoint or party affiliation, we should ALL desire to see the candidates have to take the stage and engage in a discourse on the issues that matter most to the American People. This is a matter of free and open debate - a foundational and integral part of our National Identity.

Concerns about the Coronavirus and the safety of the debates is not a valid excuse to halt this American tradition, as both candidates and the moderators can easily maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet as recommended by the CDC. If news anchors and political pundits can sit inches from each other in a News studio DAILY, then our two candidates can stand 6 feet apart on a stage 3 times.

Lets join together to demand open discourse, the free exchange of information for people of all races and socioeconomic status, and for WE THE PEOPLE to have every means of making a knowledgeable and informed decision in November. Neither Candidate deserves our vote if they refuse to engage in this necessary and long established American Tradition.
