James Bock started this petition to NBA commissioner Adam Silver

Dear Commissioner Silver,

If you are reading this, then our message has been heard. We represent a group of individuals who have been watching one of the NBA's flagship franchises continue to fade into obscurity and mediocrity. Since 2001, the New York Knicks have had a total of 3 winning seasons, plus 5 playoffs appearances with 4 first round exits. This sustained failure stems from bad player contracts and bad coaching hires, which can only be traced back to poor ownership. We officially request that you take action to remove James Dolan as owner of the New York Knicks.

Your first act as Commissioner was to remove Donald Sterling as owner of the Los Angeles Clippers. We understand this was a very different situation, however the end result was the team being purchased by Steve Ballmer. Since Mr. Ballmer's arrival, the Clippers have become a stable organization, and have even begun to rival the Lakers, arguably the biggest franchise in the NBA, as the team to play for in Los Angeles. Imagine what new ownership could do for one of the NBA's flagship franchises.

Our short term goal is to bring to your attention that we, as fans of the NBA, have had enough of Mr. Dolan's mismanagement of the Knicks. His poor personnel decisions along with poor treatment of fans has gone on for too long. In the long term, we hope to soon see a new owner of the New York Knicks. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Sincerely,

NBA Fans
