Allow Nazareth DPT Grads to wear Doctoral Caps

In May of 2022, I will be graduating with nearly 60 other students from Nazareth College with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. My classmates and I have worked countless hours to earn this academic honor and I couldn’t be prouder. Our profession is one that many claim does not deserve the title of “Doctor” despite our schooling to differentially diagnose and practice independently. The interim dean of health sciences intends to deny this recognition once again by refusing to let our class wear doctoral caps despite giving us gowns and hoods. This implies that we are less than other doctoral programs (including other DPT programs around the country). Not only is it an insult to our years of work, it is an insult to the college’s ONLY doctoral program. It’s not about the floppy caps or the letters behind our names, but the recognition of our place within the health care system. Sign if you want to help us show our school how important this is to us.
