Nikhilesh Nisarg started this petition to Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation and

India is a still a country which in the citizen enjoys the privilege of "the right to pollute" thanks to our caste system which segregated people and considered those who does the work of sanitation as belonging to the lowest of caste. Since the majority culture is based on this caste based ideology and all our approach to sanitation is lead by people who had caste based mindset, our socio-economic system of waste management is still driven by the same irrational approach to waste management in the name of swatch bharat abhiyan which represents nothing but cosmetic cleanliness without addressing the issue of sanitation workers and their death while entering into the manholes.

Just to awaken those who are new to the issue, the number of sanitation workers who die cleaning manholes is more than those who die fighting the so called enemies from other state. Sanitation workers are equivalent citizens of India and in order to preserve their right to live, we need stricter implementation of sanitation and waste management.

The purpose of the petition is to highlight that those who dump their waste without segregation are causing more death to our own brothers and sisters who work as sanitation workers than all terrorists combined.

So as a deterrent the aim of the petition is to request the government to implement policies such that segregation of waste based on scientific standards become MANDATORY for each and every household and any violation of this is heavily fined so that no one dares to spread their shit in the open.

The purpose of this petition is to highlight that Swatch Bharat Abhiyan is not enough for a country so drenched in caste and class based inequality like India. Unless the government makes stricter norms on citizens of India, each and everyone of us will exploit our unsaid right to pollute and make our future generation face even worse condition; especially for sanitation workers who are still facing caste and class based discrimination.

We urge and demand the citizens on India to grow up from their social infancy and start segregating waste as how mature people would do...or face consequence of paying hefty fines.
