Stop the 30% Tariff on Solar Industry Imports to the U.S

With the decision by President Trump to impose a 30% tariff even on Canadian made modules, we need the Canadian government to take actions to firstly support a future of cleaner and economic alternative of energy to gradually replace current energy generating environment pollutants. Conservation of resources, preservation of habitats affected by mining, and reducing costs for nuclear and electrical expenses are just some of the sole reasons of why protecting the Solar Manufacturing and Generating Industry are vital to our survival as a global community.
Trump's movement cancels billions of dollars in investments with the U.S economy. Some countries find it necessary to compromise heir national safety and principles to maintain trade agreements with suppliers for fuel and other sources from other nations. Nations who adopt solar energy systems reduce and eliminate their dependence for foreign sources.
Not only are these key points for the Canadian government to take necessary actions towards embracing and prioritizing the Solar Manufacturing and Generating Industry, there are plenty of workers across manufacturing, installation, research, financing, and services, who have worked hard and dedicated a great deal of their lives to support and thrive for a cleaner future. It has been estimated that roughly over 200,000 Canadian jobs in the field will severely lose their careers which will affect many other businesses who rely on Solar energy/products.
The Canadian government continues to invest in this resource but are carefully evaluating the economics of each Solar project with focuses on minimizing adverse impacts on investments. Success towards a Solar future lies within companies such as Silfab Solar.
Silfab Solar is the North American manufacturing leader in the design & development of ultra-high-efficiency, premium quality 60- and 72-cell monocrystalline PV modules. Silfab leverages over 35 years of solar experience spanning the entire vertical PV value chain including wafers, ingots, R&D, engineering and product innovation. As the largest and most advanced manufacturer in North America, Silfab’s fully automated facility utilizes precision engineering to produce superior reliability and performance with the lowest defect rate in the US. Silfab provides value to the residential and commercial customer who want domestically made modules and maximum power density. Silfab’s 100% North American based team leverages just-in-time manufacturing to deliver unparalleled service, on-time delivery and flexible project solutions.
We need MP for Mississauga-Malton and Minister for Innovation, Science and Economic Development Navdeep Bains, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to take great consideration into these pressing issues, as well as governors, legislators and public utility commissions with great dependence on solar work forces to adopt policies and regulations overcoming costs increases and career impacts from these issues surrounding Solar Tariffs imposed my Trump.
The help of as many signatories as possible towards an agreement proposed will positively help towards eliminating the tariff on these Solar products imported from World Trade Organizations(WTO) members within a maximum of four to five years, and a majority of various following tariffs gradually eliminated under considerations upon implementation of the agreement.
