Protect Llyn Padarn! Say 'no' to discharging water from Glyn Rhonwy quarry into our lake

Snowdonia Pumped Hydro are applying for a licence to discharge water from the disused quarry at Glyn Rhonwy, Llanberis, into Llyn Padarn.  The water quality and contents of the quarry are unknown, and the quarry has for many years been used as a dumping ground for waste, chemicals and potential pollutants.  Llyn Padarn is a SSSI with Bathing Water status, a pristine lake home to rare Arctic Charr, otters, and floating plantain.  It is also a fabulous outdoor swimming and kayaking venue for the children of Llanberis, visitors and for major sporting events, and for families picnicking and playing on its shores.  We cannot risk our most treasured resource with what may be sediment and pollutant laden water; even the smallest amounts of pollutants could have a devastating impact on the lake and the area.
