Why this petition matters

Started by Attieh Fard

The Nationality and Borders Bill is designed to tackle unsafe routes to the UK for asylum seekers. However, there are very important issues which have been proposed as amendments by the House of Lords to ensure our future asylum system is safe, compassionate and cost effective such as giving right to asylum seekers to work after 6 months (E1), ensuring the legislation and policies comply with the Refugee Convention, asking the government to publish the costs of having a contract with a designated off shore country which is going to review asylum claims and making such information available to both houses before implementing such changes (G1) and allowing unaccompanied children reunite with their families if they have a family member lawfully resident in the UK (H1).

The bill will return to the parliament for further consideration where MPs will be able to vote on the Lords’ amendments.

Please sign this petition and ask your MP to accept the Lords’ amendments in particular motion E1.
