NWSL STOP PLAYING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AT GAMES

NWSL STOP PLAYING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AT GAMES
Why this petition matters

Dear NWSL,
on June 27th 2020 Soccer returned during a pandemic in Utah with the NWSL challenge cup. The day started on a high note with Portland Thorns v North Carolina Courage. Every team member except a bench keeper & the refs kneeled while wearing BLM shirts and armbands. The stadium had an ad board with BLM playing across it during the game alongside sponsors. Soccer was back! But during the Chicago Red Stars vs Washington Spirit game later that night, it was clear for fans to see that this was a rush to promote a social issue you don’t understand. 12 players in total stood while wearing a BLM tee & armband. CRS player Casey Short broke down in tears while kneeling & her white teammate Rachel Hill stood next to her in a BLM shirt. Hill reached out to touch Short’s shoulder, while not joining in kneeling which told Short that her Black life did not matter. Due to the immense pain Short suffered that has been publicly turned into inspiration porn, and circulating the Internet while making highlights of the game we call on NWSL & CBS to remove the National Anthem from games played by American teams on American soil. There are multiple international players in this league who do not need to adhere to our anthem too.
