Not FARE enough!

Taxi drivers of Ireland are demanding a proper pay increase. 3% is NOT FARE ENOUGH. Since November 2008 we have been afforded a paltry 4% pay rise despite ever increasing costs to run our businesses. This proposed increase will give us a total of 7.22% in almost 10 years! The Dept of Transport and the NTA granted appropriate wage increases to every other section of the Public Transport sector, eg Dublin Bus 11.6%, whilst ignoring taxi rates despite ever increasing operational costs in all aspects of running a taxi. The NTA even increased, by 20%, the Annual Taxi Licence Renewal from €125 to €150 to help pay for the Luas Extension and additional Cycle lanes. We are demanding a 12% rise on the meter, in line with other Public Transport workers, and the extra rate applied at Christmas and New Year's Eve, be extended to include all Public Bank Holidays.
