Free transport for people unable to drive due to epilepsy
Free transport for people unable to drive due to epilepsy
Transport should be free for people with disabilities, including unseen ones such as epilepsy. In the event of someone having a seizure and if are deemed unfit to drive, I believe there should be some help available to them to allow them to maintain their lives. Transport is expensive, especially public transport. Compensating them for the added costs of public transport is important, especially when they are unable to drive.
Allowances for transport are available to people with epilepsy in other countries, yet none in Ireland.
It is a hardship to people with epilepsy who don't qualify for disabilities benefits, and therefore don't get free travel. Especially when unable to drive.
More should be done to support people with disabilities, both seen and unseen.
Epilepsy is classed as a disability, so why is free travel not included?
