Brett Morris started this petition to National Rugby League

We believe the 6 again rule has systematically destroyed the game of rugby league in Australia. It’s made our game so fast that injuries have increased incredibly, and we now have more blowout score lines than ever before, plus the least amount of golden point games. As a direct result of the 6 again rule, we now have the most lopsided competition in rugby league history. We were told by the NRL that the 6 again rule would speed up our game by reducing stoppages in play. The problem with this is the pendulum has now swung completely in favour of the attacking team, so the best attacking teams are getting multiple set restarts. Plus, the best attacking teams have now learned how to “milk” the rule to ensure they keep getting multiple set restarts. We believe a much fairer option would be to award one extra tackle per infringement. At least this would level the playing field a bit, while still keeping the game moving, but in a fairer way. If the 6 again rule remains, we believe the gap between the contenders and pretenders will only widen further and the number of injuries will continue to increase. We the fans have supported the game of rugby league and have made it what it is today, but we refuse to watch the game we love slowly die. We want our old game back again, a game where any team can win on the day, a game that was enjoyable for all fans to watch. We hereby petition the NRL to admit that the 6 again rule has failed and abolish it.
